The Love Of God- the Father
A certain farmer had an unusual weathervane on his barn. Inscribed on the arrow were these words: “God is love.” A passerby turned in at the gate and asked the farmer, “What do you mean by that? Do you think God’s love is changeable; that it veers about as that arrow turns in the winds?” “Oh, no,” replied the farmer, “I mean that whichever way the wind blows, God is still love.”
I am so convinced that God’s love is the most powerful influence in all the universe. Head and shoulders above every other influence, God’s love is so powerful. And I’m also convicted that we have a desperate need to understand and embrace the love of God for all that it is.
For God So Loved… What proclamation of the Gospel has been so often on the lips of missionaries and preachers in every age since it was first uttered? What has sent such thrilling sensations through millions of mankind? What has been honored to bring such multitudes to the feet of Christ? What to kindle in the cold and selfish hearts of mortals the fires of self sacrificing love to mankind, as these words of transparent simplicity, yet overpowering majesty?
John 3:16 gives us twelve of the greatest gifts ever given from our heavenly Father. God- the greatest Father of all since His creation. Only God has the capacity to love every one because He created us and knows us intimately.
So Loved- The greatest degree. There is no love that can exceed the depth, breadth, length and height of His magnificent love.
The World- The greatest audience. No one, except our great Jehovah can say He
That He gave- the greatest act in history occurred when the Father sent His son to be the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.
His only begotten Son- the greatest gift.
That whoever- The greatest opportunity. God the Father values our freedom of choice. Say “yes” to Him today.
Believes- The greatest simple act to gain eternal life and forgiveness and deliverance from the penalty of our sins.
In Him- The greatest attraction.
Should not perish- the greatest promise. He always delivers and gives us salvation of eternal life.
But- The greatest difference that contrasts the life here with eternity.
Have- The greatest certainty in comforting, protecting our guiding our lives.
Eternal life- The greatest possession.
Never underestimate the power of John 3:16 to be used to multiply
the kingdom in greater quantity and quality for His (the Father’s)
Yours in Jesus,
